Sheet size: 15 1/8 x 19 3/4 inches. One of four fine images after original paintings by Welsh, from the series "Dodson's Sporting Incidents."The present lively scene shows the London to Liverpool stage coach being prepared for departure outside a coaching inn called the Bull's Head.Thomas Walsh was a prolific artist, who concentrated mainly on racing and hunting scenes. Little is known about him other than that he worked mainly in watercolour and executed a number of images for various print publishers.Cf. Lane British Racing Prints, p.180.
