In the piece I was thinking about abstract aerial views of farmland, roads, and silos. This is a green and white nine panel painting assembled together to make a piece measuring 30†square. The paint is encaustic, (a mixture of beeswax, pigment, and damar). The paint surface is rich and highly textured. Encaustic paintings are very durable, but care should be taken to protect encaustics from extreme heat, as the paint can melt.

This piece is a bold abstract encaustic painting (bees wax, damar, pigment) on a 24'' square cradled wood panel. The painting is highly textured in thick brush strokes of oil paint mixed with bee's wax and damar. The mixture is heated and painted while hot, and the paint hardens as it cools. The title refers to a song. Like music, painting can just be about a feeling. I've chosen to name these pieces after songs because I feel a connection between music and this body of work.

My work is a process of building up paints, layering and scraping back. I use oil paint, encaustic and elements of collage. The oil paint allows me to create vibrant colored glazes and encaustic wax allows me to build textured layers that includes my collage. Most of my work celebrates the textures of landscapes and urban areas. This canvas is stretched and ready to hang. Please keep in mind shipping costs may vary a little based on your exact address.

There is that time when winter has ended, and spring is in the air, more of a hope and a promise than a reality. This 36x24 inch encaustic on cradled birch panel, a view of water through trees, features a surface that is heavily textured, with translucent layers of pigmented wax.
